Good neighbors don’t just wave hello. Sometimes they make sure your foundation isn’t cracking. In honor of National Good Neighbor Day, Chesterfield-based Open Concept Engineering is giving back to the community that built its business, one blueprint at a time.

The firm, known locally for its work reinforcing aging foundations and reimagining cramped floor plans into open-concept living spaces, is spotlighting a recent project on Baxter Ridge Lane where a structural assessment helped a family avoid a costly foundation failure before it became a neighborhood safety issue.

“We see ourselves as neighbors first and engineers second,” said Scott Reid, founder of Open Concept Engineering. “Good Neighbor Day is a reminder that the strongest communities are the ones where people look out for each other’s homes, not just their own. A stable foundation next door is good for everyone on the block.”

To celebrate, Open Concept Engineering is offering free 1-hour structural safety consultations to Chesterfield homeowners with homes under 2,000 square feet, from October 1 through October 10. Consultations, conducted by the firm’s engineering intern, cover visible foundation cracks, sagging floors, and load-bearing wall questions for anyone considering a renovation. Homeowners can book by calling the office or mentioning “Good Neighbor Day” when scheduling online.

Chesterfield residents can reach Open Concept Engineering at (314) 885-4661 or visit their website https://www.openconcepteng.com/ to reserve a consultation slot before spots fill up.
